What is MFR?

John Barnes’ myofascial release is a whole body hands-on form of bodywork that consists of gentle sustained pressure into fascial restrictions. Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. The fascial system surrounds and infuses with every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and blood vessel down to the cellular level. Therefore, trauma, posture and/or inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on any or all of these structures. Over time, the tightness spreads resulting in loss of flexibility and/or discomfort/pain. This in turn sets your body up for more trauma, pain, and lack of mobility.
